Royal Air Force Coningsby has the most diverse selection of aircraft operating from its airfield, operating every type of current RAF fast jet. Together with the historic aircraft of the world famous Battle of Britain Memorial Flight much of the history of the RAF in the last 70 years can be seen in the skies over Coningsby.
Battle of Britain Memorial Flight-The BBMF operate one of two remaining airworthy Avro Lancaster bombers in the world besides five Spitfires of various types, two Hurricanes, a Dakota and two Chipmunks.

After the closure of RAF Coltishall the remaining fleet of servicable Jaguar GR3A and T2 aircraft came to operate with 6(F) Squadron. These stayed here until the aircraft were withdrawn from service.
