About
RAF Fairford is home to the largest air show in the world, the Royal International Air Tattoo (RIAT), usually held in July. The show has a massive attendence in both crowds and aircraft. It attracts aircraft from air arms around the globe. Whilst the ticket price is high it is well worth every penny, some of which goes to the Royal Air Force Charitable Trust.
Air Tattoo 2008 was the show that just did not happen. The week prior to the event had seen unprecidented amounts of rainfall. The car parks and airfield showground were water logged and it was demended a hazard to public safety, so the show was cancelled. It was a great disappointment for the thousands of Air Tattoo lovers especially as the USAF had brought over 3 F-22 Raptors for its European Display debut.
